The United States Mint has announced a limited edition quarter which will be released under the American Women’s Quarter Program, including five famous figures to be displayed in each quarter. Coins will be released every year by 2025 with our Mint order for those who want to collect it. Among other things, NASA astronaut Sally Ride will get its own coin.
Mint As revealed a new limited edition coin last week, featuring five designs chosen by the treasury secretary. Five famous women who will be shown in the quarter are Maya Angelou, Dr. Sally Ride, Wilma Mankiller, Nina Oterero-Warren, and Anna May Wong.
Five designs will be located on the side of the quarter, which will display George Washington on the face as expected. The limited edition quarters will be issued every year from 2022 to 2025, with each year carrying batches different from five unique coins under the American Women’s Quarter Program.
Each quarter will display a group of “ethnic, racial, and diverse geographically,” according to Mint As, which explains that the quarters are intended to respect the achievement of these individuals in various fields and activism, including everything starting from civil rights for space and space science.
In a statement about the upcoming coins, Director of Mint As’s acting, Alison L. Doone said:
This inspiring coin design tells the stories of five extraordinary women whose contribution is engraved with indilendism. The future generation will see coins that bear this design and are reminded of what can be done with vision, determination and desire to increase opportunities for all.
