It’s less than a day before the next Apple’s big event, it seems there are still some time for a little change in expectations. Of course, something small like a marketing name change will not really affect how the next batch of the MacBook Pro will appear, but can clarify or confuse consumers about which models will be obtained. The debut with the new Mac is the next silicone genes of Apple, which may not be called Apple M1x.
As far as technical specifications, which were previously believed to be Apple M1x would be an important upgrade of the first and very successful effort of the company on the desktop class processor itself. In addition to upgrading from 8 to 10 CPU cores, GPUs are also expected to come in configuration 16 and 32-core. It was two and four times the graphics power owned by Apple M1, which was quite impressive.
Usually, Apple slaps “X” to the chip of the same architecture which only represents an additional increase. At least that is what happens to Apple as a processor on the iPhone and its iPad. That said, the last time was done with Apple A12, which had a variant of the A12X and A12Z.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, there are signs that show the possibility that the next M1 chip will be called M1 Pro and M1 Max. This might be able to refer to the different GPU configuration between the same “M1x” processor. Gurman, however, warned that Apple might still end up using M1x as its official marketing name for silicon 2021 M-Series.
New MacBook Pros, which is expected to come in a 14-inch model and 16 inches, is likely to be the center of interest at the Apple “Unleashed” event. In addition to new designs, laptops are expected to see the return of the HDMI slot and charging Magsafe while also bid the goodbye to the controversial touch bar. The Apple event took place on October 18 at 10 in the morning of PT.
