The next MacOS version will be available for download starting October 25. Apple shares the release date on the event “Unleashed” today with the new M1 Pro and M1 Max Max chip and a redesigned MacBook Pro.
Monterey MacOS updates come with important improvements for FaceTime, including support for spatial audio, and the ability to use SharePlay to listen to music and watch videos with your friends. One of the biggest changes is the addition of universal control, which allows users to move forward and backward between iPad and Mac. These features, which build one previous continuity update, allow users to attract and decrease files between several devices and type on the iPad from the Macbook keyboard.
But Shareplay and Universal controls, which are not available in the initial beta MacOS Monterey, will arrive after the initial update “later this fall,” according to Apple.
This release is also equipped with major updates to safari which is sometimes controversial due to significant changes to the tab tab and other main features. (The latest beta carries the tab bar by default after a longer version of the update removes it.) Another improvement to stay tuned to enter text directly, features such as Google lens that allow you to choose text in photos, and additional quick notes. MacOS also get some updates that first appeared on iOS 15, including focus mode, and support for “shared with you,” which tracks content distributed in the message application.
Apple brings two other important iOS features to Mac with shortcut and support applications for AirPlay, because Macs Monterey MacOS running will be able to use their devices as Airplay speakers.
